The last two chapters have been focused on the testimony of the water. Let’s turn to the testimony of the blood. This is the One who came by water and blood, Jesus Christ, not with the water only, but with the water and with the blood. It is the Spirit who testifies because the Spirit is the truth. Lowered expectations distort how we see the reality of possibilities in our life. As we drop our expectation we turn to gimmicks or self-effort and stop believing for the miracles of God to be part of our experience. It’s not necessarily the case, that we don’t believe in miracles, just that somehow, they are not a part of our individual story.
