Living the Resurrected Life. The Testimony Part 13 The Water, The Blood, and the Spirit, Part 6 - The Truth Will Set You Free - David Mitts

Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, "If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." (Joh 8:31-32 NKJV)

The overcoming life is found through the blood of the Lamb, the word of our testimony and not loving our lives unto death.

"And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, and they did not love their life even when faced with death. (Rev 12:11 NASB)

Testimony is made effective by agreement. Where there is agreement there is the basis for truth.

"Again, I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven. (Mat 18:19 NASB)

Overcoming testimony requires those in agreement to be “one”. All believer’s who have been born-again are born into a oneness in the kingdom of God. This oneness opens the reality of the kingdom to be able to be witnessed.

Jesus answered and said to him, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born-again, he cannot see the kingdom of God."(Joh 3:3 NASB)

A person cannot testify of what they have not seen. These is called hearsay in legal jargon. Actual evidence requires an eye-witness testimony. It is impossible for those who are not born again to give a testimony that overcomes the devil.

They can only give a testimony that relies on natural seeing and natural knowledge. To give a spiritual testimony, where true power resides, requires spiritual sight.

For to us God revealed them through the Spirit; for the Spirit searches all things, even the depths of God. For whom among men knows the thoughts of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so the thoughts of God no one knows except the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may know the things freely given to us by God, which things we also speak, not in words taught by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit, combining spiritual thoughts with spiritual words. But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised. But he who is spiritual appraises all things, yet he himself is appraised by no one. For WHO HAS KNOWN THE MIND OF THE LORD, THAT HE WILL INSTRUCT HIM? But we have the mind of Christ. (1Co 2:10-16 NASB)

The testimony of the Holy Spirit is a living relational encounter. Yeshua calls this “abiding”.

"I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. "Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit, He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit, He prunes it so that it may bear more fruit. "You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. "Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me. "I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing. "If anyone does not abide in Me, he is thrown away as a branch and dries up; and they gather them and cast them into the fire and they are burned. "If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. "My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be My disciples. "Just as the Father has loved Me, I have also loved you; abide in My love. "If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love; just as I have kept My Father's commandments and abide in His love. (Joh 15:1-10 NASB)

Abiding is a condition of dwelling. Our home is our abode. The abiding reality is a connection that is so intimate that it dissolves separateness. Yeshua uses the imagery of a vine and its branches to parallel the spiritual reality He calls abiding.

It is in the place of abiding where we produce fruit of abiding. Apart from abiding, we cannot produce fruit. Reflect on that statement for a moment. There is obviously a lot that we can and do accomplish apart from the Lord. Yet He calls this “nothing”.

You see all our worldly accomplishments are evaluated by comparison to other worldly standards. Yeshua calls this the blind leading the blind.

“Let them alone. They are blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind leads the blind, both will fall into a ditch."” (Matthew 15:14)

This is how things are in the current world situation. The blind, who cannot see the truth of God and how He engineered our bodies, minds, and spirits, creates us to live in divine health wit an immune system that can handle just about anything. Instead, we see the blind leaders promoting health strategies that are really fear and control strategies. And even when those strategies are clearly failing the ones who trusted them for their shots and their masks and their social distancing and isolation tactics, there is still no humility and a recognition of the God who made us. Evenreligious leaders have fallen in the same trap.

In the face of this insanity God is speaking, abide in Me. He promises that if we open our heart and allow His Word to abide in our heart, then whatever we ask will be done.

You see we cannot serve God and Mammon. We cannot claim to abide in God and then serve the solutions of a wicked kingdom that seeks to enslave mankind by offering the temptation of their defined security based on the god of their agreement that they call science.

You see it is really a war of covenants. Abiding is another word for covenant. When we give our heart in covenant, we surrender ourselves to the boundaries of the covenant. Think of it like a marriage. When we marry, we surrender our minds, our bodies, our resources, our gifts, etc. to the boundaries of the marriage. No outside agreement supersedes our marriage covenant. We cannot be in a marriage covenant and give our bodies to someone else. This is called adultery. We cannot be in a marriage and give our finances to another. The marriage defines where our heart is and therefore all our treasure.

Abiding in the Lord is a marriage. He is a jealous husband, protective of the heart, will, emotions, resources of His beloved. When we go to an outside god to solve our health issues, it is adultery to the Lord. Does that mean that there is no place for doctors? No. I’m not saying that. Marriages benefit from counselors and other resource people, but they do so in a place of unity, what the Lord calls oneness. Loyalty is never an issue.

The authority of the marriage is always greater than any other outside voice no matter how well intended. There is no one who knows you like one who given themselves in love to you.

You are the beloved of the Lord. You are His bride. You will never be known or guided by anyone better than Him. He knows you and loves you including all your weaknesses. There is a voice in you that will lead you to the truth in any situation.

Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, "If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." (Joh 8:31-32 NKJV)

Activation: Abiding in the Word of God. Trust is the key to abiding. Trust is tied to how we see another. It is hard to trust when we don’t know the heart of the one, we are trusting in. This seeing reveals what our hopes are in the relationship. Take something this week that you are hoping for. Realize that if it is significant, it will require others to accomplish the hope. Ask the Lord to help you see with His eyes what you are hoping for. Agreement is the place of power, and we need to see what we are hoping for through the eyes of the Lord.

“Therefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers: that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.” (Ephesians 1:15-21)
